Here is a lesson I hope all of you can learn from. Go see your doctor once a year. I should have taken the death of my brother-in-law to cancer last year as a sign that I should be more aware of my health, but alas I was stupid, and I also didn't have health insurance till last month.

So here is the scenario. Two weeks ago I was feeling nauseous and a bit of vomiting, so I figured I should go to the doctor. They took blood and did one of those ultrasounds to see if there was any obvious reason why I was sick. So last Friday I meet with my doctor and find out the results.

Here's a tip, when your doctor says "I want to admit you" pretty much something is seriously wrong. So for three days, basically my weekend, I'm stuck in a hospital room getting my blood draw at 6am and my blood pressure checked twice a day. Basically I had something really toxic, which fucked up my liver. Now I'm straight edge so alcohol, drugs and cigs were a constant 'no' when the numerous doctors came in.

One of the scares would have to have been when my doctor said "You might want to put an emergency number on the board." That in addition to the admitting girl asking me if I had a DNR already in effect.

What the fuck. And what my preferred religion was. And the guy who would come in every day and pray for me. Shit, I really did think for a few days that I might be seriously sick and that I might actually die. I've never felt like that before. And I have to say it was like a slap in the face to wake up and stop wasting my time at a shitty job.

So on I forge, looking for a life more meaningful and being much more appreciative of my life.
